Fall In North Pole

We didn't plant any flowers this summer because we thought we would be gone too long. We were not looking forward to the empty flower beds around the house. The flower bed under the tree beside our driveway surprised us when we came home in August. It was full of volunteer Pansy.
I always like the color and musky smell of the high bush cranberries in the fall. It reminds me of my first fall up here in 1969.

Here is the low bush variety. (Below) I look forward to them because they taste so good in Banana bread with the tart cranberries and chocolate chips. Patsy also makes some delicious cookies with them.

Patsy at work in the woods. pickin berries!

Fruits of her labor. About 7 cups.
